Supply of DN250 and DN300 mm pipes, valves and fittings in ductile iron for the construction of an adduction pipeline serving the water treatment plant in the municipality of San Pancrazio Salentino (BR).
Since the works are aimed at the irrigation use of wastewater, the contract is part of the infrastructure for the treatment, storage and reuse of purified wastewater.
In order to be reused in agriculture, the recovered wastewater must not exceed the values reported in the D.M. 2 maggio 2006, n.93 “regolamento recante norme tecniche per il riutilizzo delle acque reflue…”.
It is therefore necessary to remove or reduce the concentration of pollutants present in the civil wastewater after treatment in biological plants: suspended solids; biodegradable and bioresistant organic substances; nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus compounds); dissolved inorganic species (salts, heavy metals, etc.) and pathogenic microorganisms.
The ductile iron therefore, with its peculiar characteristics, was one of the most suitable materials.
The zinc-aluminum and final coatings, according to EN545 app.D.1.1, and the internal cement mortar lining according to ISO 4179, make these pipes for water transport particularly resistant to aggressive substances, corrosion, bending and ovalization.
Durable, environmentally friendly and easy to lay, ductile iron is therefore a reference material for water systems.
